Privacy Policy
The short version
- ✓Your saved clips are end-to-end encrypted. They are locked on your device before they ever leave it — we cannot read them.
- ✓We only collect what the app needs to work: your phone number to sign you in, and technical tokens to sync and notify your devices.
- ✓The keyboard runs on your device. It does not send what you type to us.
- ✓No ads. We never sell your data, and we don't use your content for advertising or profiling.
- ✓You can delete your account and data from inside the app at any time.
1Who we are
Clip Era is a private clipboard manager and keyboard for Android, published by NewEraTech (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains what information the Clip Era app and the bundled Clip Era Keyboard collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers the app distributed as com.clipera on Google Play.
By using Clip Era you agree to this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
2Information we collect
We deliberately collect as little as possible. Here is everything:
We do not collect your contacts, your location, advertising identifiers, or the plaintext of anything you type or copy.
3Your clips & end-to-end encryption
Your saved clips are the private heart of the app, and they are protected with end-to-end encryption (E2EE):
- Clips are encrypted on your device with a key derived from a passphrase that only you know, before they are synced.
- Our servers store and move only the encrypted result. We, our staff, and any admin tools cannot decrypt or read your clip content — the app's own admin features are limited to account metadata and never touch clip content.
- When you share a clip with another Clip Era user, it is sealed to that recipient using end-to-end (public-key) encryption, so only their device can open it.
- Because the encryption key is derived from your passphrase, if you lose that passphrase we cannot recover your encrypted clips for you. That is the trade-off that keeps them truly private.
Even if our servers were compromised, your clip content would remain unreadable ciphertext. Privacy here is enforced by mathematics, not just by our promise.
4The Clip Era Keyboard
Clip Era includes a keyboard so you can save and paste clips while you type. Keyboards are sensitive, so here is exactly how it behaves:
- The keyboard processes your typing on your device. It does not transmit what you type to us or to any server.
- Features like the personal dictionary and Roman-Urdu transliteration run locally using on-device dictionaries; learned words stay on your device.
- The keyboard reads and writes the system clipboard only to save or paste your clips at your request.
- Optional speech-to-text: if you use voice input, the audio is sent to the speech engine you choose (for example Google's on-device or online recognition, or a cloud provider you configure) only while you are using that feature. That processing is governed by the chosen provider's own privacy policy. If you never use voice input, no audio leaves your device.
5How we use information
- Provide the service — sign you in, store and sync your encrypted clips, and let you share them.
- Authenticate & secure — verify your phone number and protect your account.
- Notify you — send a push notification when someone shares a clip with you.
- Support & operate — help you with your account and keep the service running.
- Improve the app — using only the anonymous, aggregate usage counts described in §2.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
7Data retention & deletion
- We keep your account information and encrypted clips for as long as your account is active.
- You can delete your account from inside the app (Settings → account). This removes your profile, your directory entry, and your synced encrypted clips from our servers.
- Anything stored on your own device or in your own Google Drive is under your control and can be cleared by you.
- Some limited, non-identifying aggregate counts may remain, as they contain no personal information.
To request deletion or ask a question about your data, contact us (§12).
8Security
We protect your information with:
- End-to-end encryption of clip content, so it is unreadable to us and to anyone who intercepts it.
- Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) between the app and our servers, and encryption of stored data at rest.
- Phone-based authentication with a one-time code, and server-side access rules that limit each account to its own data.
No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we design Clip Era so that the most sensitive thing — your clip content — never leaves your device unencrypted.
9Children's privacy
Clip Era is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10Where your data is stored
Your account data and encrypted clips are processed and stored on Google Cloud / Firebase infrastructure, which may be located in data centres outside your country. Wherever it is stored, your clip content remains end-to-end encrypted.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make a material change, we will update the “Effective date” above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Clip Era after a change means you accept the updated policy.
